soma-70F1-6B1F-1312On Tuesday, May 13th a mining disaster claimed the lives of nearly 300 miners in Soma near western Turkey. According to reports the death toll seems certain to rise, as about 100 people are still missing. The disaster was caused by a fire in the mine. Efforts were made to save the victims, however only around 100 have been rescued.The mine explosion is already being called the deadliest industrial disaster in Turkey's history. It is not just those who lost relatives and loved ones in the worst mining tragedy that Turkey has ever faced who are suffering; the whole country is mourning the deaths of the 300 mine workers killed in the disaster. On behalf of Raindrop Foundation we would like to convey our condolences to the friends and relatives of the miners and our deepest sympathies to the families. Now it is time to help the rescued miners and the families of the victims. Raindrop Foundation in collaboration with Embrace Relief has started a campaign for the people of Soma who are affected by the mining disaster. Raindrop Foundation organized an early Thanksgiving Dinner

Raindrop Foundation, in collaboration with the Dialogue Institute Southwest organized Early Thanksgiving Dinner as being a part of citizenship month activities in Lubbock on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.The program started with welcoming remarks by the president of Raindrop Foundation- Lubbock Branch, Mr. Altinbilek. After watching the introduction video of Rainrop Foundation, The keynote speaker, Mr. James P. Haney, the pastor of the St. Paul's on the Plains Episcopal Church, gave a presentation about the Thanksgiving. After the presentation, participants (more than 40) enjoyed watching the video clip of Mahsun Kirmizigul, entitled as "not of us". The program ended with the social conversations of the patrticipants.


Raindrop Foundation organized Coffee Day to help the Typhoon victims in Philippines

We are deeply saddened by the loss and the damage because of the Typhoon Haiyan.

Raindrop Helping Hands organized Turkish Coffee Day with Turkish Student Association of Texas Tech University to help the Typhoon victims in Philippines. While TTU students and staffs enjoyed with Turkish Coffee and Baklawa, they also donated money to the victims of the typhoon. 

As part of our mission, we  initiated a campaign to help those who are affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

Raindrop Organized Turkish Doner Day at TTU

Raindrop Foundation organized a Turkish Doner Day in collaboration with Turkish Student Association of Texas Tech University. TTU students and staffs enjoyed to eat Turkish Doner and Baklava during the lunch time. According to the feedbacks, more than 20 students were very interesed in registering for Turkish Language class for Spring 2014 semester.
