Early Thanksgiving Dinner

tgIn honor of observing the Citizenship Month for Houston, The Raindrop Foundation, in collaboration with Bays Oaks Management District, Raindrop Women's Association, Dialogue Institute of Southwest and Embrace Relief-Houston  would like to cordially invite you to an Early Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 17th, 2016 from 6:30 pm. until 9:00 pm.

Early Thanksgiving dinner with the neighbors and local communities to celebrate the Citizenship Month, which is a celebration of Houston’s civic diversity and the celebration of the contribution of all people who call Houston home. Thanksgiving creates a great opportunity to host an event that celebrates many faces of Houston. Neighbors of the Raindrop Foundation and local communities will gather around Thanksgiving tables and share and appreciate the diversity of our city. They will share their memories in a warm and friendly gathering. Around 300 guests will enjoy the food along with traditional Turkish music and engage in friendly conversations. It will create the atmosphere for appreciation of our diversity and living together.

Being aware of the food insecure families, Embrace Relief-Houston will launch a food drive in October as part of the event and donations will be presented to Houston Food Bank during the dinner on November 17,2016. Thanksgiving also creates the opportunity to raise awareness for the people in need. Contributions in the form of non-perishable food and funds can be made at Turkish-American Community Center located at 9301 West Bellfort Ave. Houston, Texas 77031.

Register Here

All proceeds will go to Embrace Relief-Houston"s “Embrace the Turkish Newcomers” Campaign.

Raindrop Social Let's Talk

14390937 331929587155608 1364345960927239758 nRaindrop Social Let's Talk was held at Turquoise Center last Thursday. A group of open minded people speaking from the heart came together to talk about forgiveness. No one was there to fix one another, or to prove a point, but to share our experiences in a meaningful conversation. The evening as a whole was a great experience for everyone in this room.

We were inspired to see the many aspects of forgiveness being discussed with such awareness and thoughtfulness. At the end of the conversation, table hosts at each table summarized their discussion for everyone. We found out that every table spontaneously investigated a different aspect of the topic.

Thank you to all who joined us. We look forward to seeing you at our next Raindrop Social Let's Talk event.

Statement by Alliance for Shared Values on Developments in Turkey

160715172615-turkey-choas-july-15-large-169News media reported about developments in Turkey today regarding actions of Turkish Armed Forces.

For more than 40 years, Fethullah Gulen and Hizmet participants have advocated for, and demonstrated their commitment to, peace and democracy. We have consistently denounced military interventions in domestic politics. These are core values of Hizmet participants. We condemn any military intervention in domestic politics of Turkey.

Events on the ground are moving quickly and it would be irresponsible for us to speculate on them. We remain concerned about the safety and security of Turkish citizens and those in Turkey right now.
Comments by pro-Erdogan circles about the movement are highly irresponsible.
