Raindrop Women Association in Houston Hosted Coffee Night!
Ladies are very active at the Raindrop Turkish House and we appreciate all their efforts to make Turquoise Center a warm and lively place. Turkish coffee night is a great time when you can enjoy the very special aspects of the Turkish culture. Raindrop Women Association organized its Coffee Night at the Turquoise Center on the 13th of January. Food, Turkish folk dances, fun games, authentic gifts and warm conversations as well as the Turkish coffee itself were a few highlights of the night. More than fifty ladies attended. After a short presentation about the Noah's Pudding (ASHURA) the night continued with a very fun ice breaker game that helped everyone to get used to each other. Gifts were presented; coffee was served together with the dessert. Coffeehouse culture is highly developed in the former Ottoman world. Coffee has affected Turkish culture so much that the word breakfast (kahvaltı) in Turkish literally means "before coffee" (kahve-alti kahve:coffee, altı:below/before). Please mark your calendars for the next Turkish Coffee Night on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 between 6 pm. and 9:00 pm. with the theme "Love".(January 13, 2010, Houston, Texas)
