Memorial Day of Srebrenica |
|
|
Bosnian and Turkish communities of Dallas came together at Raindrop
Foundation to remember martyrs of Srebrenica. There was a tragic event
in which 8000 Bosnian men were massacred by the Serbians in July 1995,
in a small city of Srebrenica. Memorial Day program started with an
informational session about the event and followed by hymn performed by
the Bosnian Sunday school students of Dallas and Forth Worth. Preceding
condemning such an atrocious event, program continued with collective
prayers for the men who died in Srebrenica and also for a peaceful
world. Both Turkish and Turkmen community expressed their sympathy with
Bosnian grief. After the program, dishes from Turkish and Bosnian
cuisine were served. Raindrop Turkevi wishes that such tragic events
will not occur anymore and only taught at history classes in school. (15, July, 2007, Dallas)
