Turquoise Center has hosted Bill White, Mayor of Houston, on May 2nd, 2009. Mayor White met the Turkish - American community leaders, business executives and guests from Azeri-American and other communities.
Mayor Bill White received Turkish translation of "Crime Prevention Handbook" of HPD. Raindrop Helping Hands translated this book to Turkish as a service to the community. Mayor White thanked for this valious effort. You can download this book by clicking here.

Raindrop Turkish House hosted Gene Locke, Partner - Andrew Kurth LLP at one of its distinguished series, Morning Conversations. Community leaders, academicians and more participants came to listen to Mr. Locke.
Mr. Locke talked about the problems and its solutions for the City of Houston.

As of April 27, 2009, 20 cases of a novel strain of swine flu have been confirmed in the United States, with 2 of the cases in Guadalupe County near San Antonio, Texas. There are an additional 5 probable cases in Guadalupe County and 3 probable cases in the DFW area. These strains are identical to the novel swine flu identified in California, Kansas, New York, Ohio, Mexico, Canada, and Spain.

Raindrop Executive Yusuf Ozdogan and volunteer Mithat Karabulut visited the Mayor Mark Stodola, Mayor of Little Rock. They gave a brief information about Raindrop's services to the community ,Inter satate Turkish Language Olympiad and Turkey Trip. Mayor Mark Stodola expressed his appreciation for the visit and said that he is happy to learn more about Turkish Culture. Raindrop Woman Association visited Congress and House of Representatives in Austin. State Representative Dr. Alma Allen from District 131 greeted ladies of Raindrop Women Association . Dr. Allen introduced Turkish women representing Turkish Community and Raindrop Turkish House’s activities in Houston to House of Representatives.

Raindrop Turkish House of Tulsa joined the rest of the cultural community of Tulsa Community College for the "Global Festival". The volunteers of Tulsa Raindrop Turkish House exhibited some posters from several parts of Turkey and they shared brochures about the beautiful parts of their country. There was a video show and there were flyers of some of the activities such as Turkish Language Program and Turkish Food Cooking Classes. The Raindrop Turkish House served the traditional dessert baklava, cheese pastry and a potato pastry to the TCC community. (March 5,2009,Tulsa,OK)

Raindrop Turkish House of Tulsa hosted the chief officers of Broken Arrow Police Department on Wednesday, March 18th for a community dinner and a Security Seminar. Over 40 members for the Turkish community of Tulsa were present at this friendly dinner. Kamil Celik of Raindrop Turkish House gave a brief introduction of the Turkish community in Tulsa area and invited Chief of Police Todd Wuestewald to help the Turkish community understand the safety in the U.S.A. better. Chief Wuestewald specifically stressed the importance of not giving any opportunity to the criminals. "If the opportunity exists, they will use it" said Chief Wuestewald. (March 18,2009,Tulsa,OK)

Raindrop Turkish House of Tulsa hosted American Red Cross on Saturday, April 11th at its Tulsa office for First Aid and Adult, Child and Infant CPR Seminar. Several members from the Turkish community of Tulsa participated at the seminar and achieved their certificates. Instructors Ashley and Tina taught the participants how to act when they face an emergency situation and how to perform a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).At the end of the seminar, Raindrop Turkish House volunteers offered "Turkish hot tea" to their guests and gave some information about Turkey, Turkish Community in Tulsa and the Turkish culture.(April 11,2009,Tulsa,OK)
