Conference on Exploring Models for Peace by Re-Exploring Past: Diversity in the Ottoman Empire |

 One of the prominent universities of United States as well as world, University of Texas held a two-day international conference on Ottoman Tolerance on 24-25 March. Center for Middle Eastern Studies of University of Texas, Raindrop Foundation, and the Institute of Interfaith Dialog were the organizers of the conference.Conference started with a reception held on Friday 23 March for the conference speakers and distinguished guests. Speakers from England, Turkey, Egypt, Macedonia, and various cities of United States delivered detailed information about the diversity and the tolerance existed in the Ottoman Empire.  Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton and his staffs have visited Raindrop Turkevi-Austin. After an amazing dinner, catered by TAWA, Dr. Yetkin Yildirim gave an impressive presentation about Turkey. The distinguished guests could not keep their eyes away from the beauty of top landmarks of Turkey. Sheriff Hamilton expressed his thanks to Raindrop Foundation for its contribution to built bridges between Austinies by organizing cultural and educational programs. He also invited all the members of our foundation to his office for a dinner. Visit from Houston-Baku Sister City Association |
 The president of Houston-Baku sister City Association Irada Akhoundova with some of their members paid a visit to Rain Drop Turkevi. Ms. Akhoundova and our executive Director, Cemil Teber shared ideas about working together in different activities such as soccer tournaments, classes in Azerbaijan language and exhibits on cultural arts. Conference begins at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast and registration. Opening remarks are at 9 a.m. A keynote speech will be given at 9:15 a.m. Session I: Rumi's Life and Mathnavi (his major work).  Consul General of Turkey in Houston, His Excellency Ambassador Atila Uzer, and Consul Ali FIndik visited Rain Drop Turkevi on March 8. The
participants included representatives from various foundations and
associations including, IID, IICP, and Citadel. The executive Director
of Rain Drop Foundation, Cemil Teber, was the host of the event. The
evening started with dinner and continued as the guests sipped their
tea. Mr. Teber made a presentation containing the history of Rain Drop
Foundation and some of the current and planned activities. Mr.
Uzer congratulated the work that Rain Drop has been doing and made
several suggestions throughout the evening.
