Turquoise Center has hosted Bill White, Mayor of Houston, on May 2nd, 2009. Mayor White met the Turkish - American community leaders, business executives and guests from Azeri-American and other communities.

Mayor Bill White received Turkish translation of "Crime Prevention Handbook" of HPD. Raindrop Helping Hands translated this book to Turkish as a service to the community. Mayor White thanked for this valious effort. You can download this book by clicking here.

Mayor White, as a keynote speaker at Gulen Institute luncheon, said that Houston is the most multi-cultural and multi-ethnic city in the US, which he emphasized is an important asset.

During his speech, Mayor White shared some of his memoirs of his numerous trips to Turkey and to other Turkic countries of the Caspian region. He described the city of Istanbul as the most beautiful and most romantic city in the world, where he spent some memorable time with his family. 

Mayor White has talked about his numerous visits to Turkey and his being one of the architects of multibillion Baku-Ceyhan pipeline. Mayor White told that his interest in Turkey and energy business will continue when he goes to Washington as a member of the Congress. (May 9, 2009 Houston, TX)
