Mayor of Austin, Will Wynn at official opening of Raindrop Turkevi-Austin

The Mayor of Austin, Will Wynn, cut the ribbon in front of a large distinguished guests. After the short speeches, guests tasted the delicious Turkish food, prepared by Turkish American Woman Association. Honorable South Korean Counsul General Kim Jung Keun has started 'TURKISH CLASSES'

Honorable South Korean Counsul General Kim Jung Keun, one of the participants of the upcoming trip to Turkey, has started learning Turkish. The Honorable Consul met the Turkish teacher, Mr. Mursel Celebi, the first time this week and found out that Mr. Celebi's father was a veteran of the Korean war. GamTex Foundation was established on 02.18.2007
gambia.jpgDallas Gambian Community has met on Dallas Raindrop Turkevi to establish their own foundation which is inspired by Raindrop Foundation. Gambians meeting has started at 4:30 pm and lasted for two hours on 18 of February, 2007, Sunday. During their meeting Raindrop Turkevi Parking lot was not that full even on the business days. More than fifty Gambians came together to elect president and chairmen for Gambian Foundation. After a long discussions and voting, Mr. Hasan Touray was elected as a President, informs Assistant Chairman Mr. Momodou Krubally. Foundation was name as GamTex (Gambian Texas) Foundation, as it was reported by member of GamTex Mr. Abubacarr Sowe. Nevruz Festival

Nevruz generally falls around March 21, corresponding to the vernal equinox, when the day and night are of equal length. Nevruz is an official holiday in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and a public holiday in Turkey. Other Turkic peoples such as Uyghurs, Yakuts, Karakalpaks, Volga or Kazan Tatars, Bashkirs and Crimean Tatars also participate in spring celebrations.

'Noah’s Pudding Celebration 'Abrahamic Heritage Still Continues Totay

noahspudding.jpgAs one of grass roots activities of the Raindrop Turkevi, the "Noah's Pudding" celebrates the common heritage of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

In the Muslim prophetic tradition, the day Moses (peace be upon him) and his community were saved from the Pharaoh's army, and the day Noah's (peace be upon him) ark was saved from the flood is celebrated with fasting and in modern times with the sharing of a piece of desert known as Noah's pudding.

Dallas County Sheriff Has Visited Raindrop Turkevi
sherifintro.jpgDallas County Sheriff Ms. Valdez has visited Raindrop Turkevi in Dallas.    Sheriff has stated "Raindrop Foundation is doing what we cannot find time to do; I am supporting you."  She also mentioned that fear is because of unknowns, so we should enlighten the dark sides by learning and communicating. Therefore, education was stressed by her for the healthy communication among both individuals and communities. By the way, she enjoyed Turkish cuisine and preferred Turkish tea instead of black coffee, after her lunch.(February 10,2007,DALLAS)
