Turkish Courses at UALR Starting |

Raindrop Turkish House is offering Turkish Language Classes at University of Arkansas in Little Rock and it is going on in the Spring semester as usual.
Students can join the class, which is scheduled on Thursday afternoons between 3 and 5pm, without following no special procedure . The purpose of the class is to give the basic language skills that will enable participants to initiate a conversation and to gain understanding of the simple rules. A fun and relaxing environment will be provided by the instructor while reaching this goal. In order to do so participants will enjoy different activities that will expose them not only to the language but also to other elements like culture, food, etc.

Visit to Little Rock Mayor's Office |

Raindrop Turkish House Director Mr. Mehmet Ulupinar and local businessman Mr. Salih Cifci visited with Mr. Mark Stodola, mayor of Little Rock. The group discussed several joint programs that can be done in the future. Among these are sister city project with a Turkish city and "Turkish-Arkansans Friendship Dinner" in February 2010. As a resident of Little Rock Mr. Salih Cifci presented a box of Turkish Baklava to the mayor's office. The group will come together again in the future to make a presentation before sister city commission members.

District 33 Representative Fred Allen Visited Turkish House |

Arkansas State Representative Mr. Fred Allen visited Raindrop Turkish House on Monday, October 26, 2009. He came to the Turkish Center with his daughter, Ms. Camille Allen. The purpose of the visit was to talk about "Turkish-Arkansans Friendship Dinner" that will take place in February 2010. Having been to Turkey 3 years ago with a Raindrop Turkish House organization Mr. Allen shared his trip memories with Mr. Salih Cifci, who is a local businessman in Little Rock, and other Raindrop volunteers present at the gathering. The group also tasted delicious Turkish baklava along with Turkish tea.

Turkish Cooking Classes Have Started ! |

The first session of a five-weeks series was held on Monday October 12, 2009. The menu items were "Chicken with potatoes", "Stuffed peppers with olive oil" and "Halva". All participants handled part of the prep from chopping onions to mixing the halva. After everything was ready they tasted what they made all together.

Raindrop Turkish House Visited City and State Officials - II |
The group continued visits on Wednesday, October 7 2009 with Pulaski County Judge Mr. Floyd "Buddy" Villines, US Senator Mark Pryor's office, US Congressman Vic Snyder's office, Governor's office and North Little Rock Mayor Mr. Hanry Hays' office.
Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff Mr. Lamar Davis received the group since Governor Mr. Mike Beebe was in Europe with a state delegation. Mr. Davis expressed his interest for dialog dinner and supported the idea of "Friendship and Dialog Reception" at the Capitol Hill.

Raindrop Turkish House Visited City and State Officials - I |
|
Raindrop Turkish House director Mehmet Ulupinar, along with a local businessman Mr. Salih Cifci, who is a volunteer at Turkish House paid visits to several city and state offices on Tuesday October 6, 2009. Mr. Kemal Oksuz, president of Turquise Counsil of Americans and Eurasians and Mr. Cemil Teber, vice president of the same organization were also present at the meetings. Among the offices visited were Secretary of State Mr. Charlie Daniel's office, Attorney General Mr. Dustin McDaniel's office, City of Little Rock Vice Mayor Mr. Gene Fortson, and Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce Vice President Mr. Lucas Hargraves.

Turkish Cooking Classes Starting |

A tradition of Raindrop Turkish House, Turkish Cuisine Classes, is taking off once again for the last semester in 2009! In October and November there will be 5 sessions, on Monday evenings, in which you will certainly enjoy the learning atmosphere that will give you hands on experience.
By attending Turkish Cuisine Classes at Rainrop Turkish House, you will:
- -try this unique cuisine that combines healthy choices like olive oil, fresh vegetables and a variety of whole grains.
-dive into the scent of Mediterrenian flavor with fresh herbs that are commonly used in Turkish Kitchen.
-taste what you make in the kitchen, all together! (Watch out how you roll the grape leaves ! !)
-learn interesting stories of some dishes in Turkish kitchen.
