Kansas City 2012 Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner

2012_Kansas_City_Annual_Friendship_DinnerOn October 18, 2012, Raindrop Foundation Kansas City in conjunction with the UMKC Division of Diversity Access and Equity, The Institute of Interfaith Dialog and The Fountain magazine hosted the 9th Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner in the UMKC campus student union.  Approximately 300 people of diverse nationalities and religious backgrounds gathered in the evening for a shared repast, conversation and presentations intended to further mutual understanding, common values and harmonious interaction among all peoples. (October 18, 2012, Kansas City, MO)

Hurricane Sandy Victims Need your Help!

HurricaneSandyWe are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the damage because of the Hurricane Sandy at the US East Coast. Hurricane Sandy that is the largest Atlantic hurricane on record is a tropical cyclone that severely affected Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States on October 29, 2012.The cyclone brought a destructive storm surge to US East Coast, flooding numerous streets, tunnels and subway and cutting off, especially Zone A areas near waterways which were issued evacuation orders. Severe damage occurred in New Jersey, especially in the communities along the Jersey Shore. According to the records, hurricane-force winded as high as 90 miles per hour (145 kph).

Renowned Writer Mustafa Akyol Visits Raindrop Turkish House
Mustafa_AkyolOn April 14, 2012, The Institute of Interfaith Dialog and Raindrop Turkish House in Lenexa proudly hosted a lecture and book signing by acclaimed Turkish columnist and author Mustafa Akyol as part of their ongoing Distinguished Speaker Series. Mr. Akyol was touring across the U.S. promoting his latest book Islam without Extremes: A Muslim Case for Liberty.

The evening began with a small gathering of distinguished guests at Raindrop Turkish House for a conversation with the author and a preview of his presentation. This discussion was followed by a light repast of Turkish cuisine. The party then repaired to the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center in Overland Park for the evening’s main program. The Institute of Interfaith Dialog and the Office of Diversity and Access at UMKC along with Raindrop Turkish House held its 8th Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner on November 9, 2011 at the University's sparkling new Student Union to promote mutual understanding, friendship, and reiterate the importance of common human values in pursuing peace among all humanity.  (November 9, 2011 Kansas City, MO)

Raindrop_JoCo_SheriffRaindrop Turkish House hosted Johnson County Sheriff Frank Denning and members of the Sheriff’s office on November 3, 2011. Sheriff Denning has been serving the law enforcement community for 30 years. He joined the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department in 1978 as a Deputy serving in the Adult Detention Center.  He’s been an active participant in many law enforcement associations and is a graduate of the 196th Class of the FBI National Academy and a current member of the Kansas-Western Missouri chapter of National Academy graduates. He is a life member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association, serving as President and currently as Governor Emeritus, and a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Chiefs and Sheriffs Association, the Kansas Sheriff’s Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
