Mugham, proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO on November 7, 2003, is performed by a khananda(singer) who sets tempo with daf/gaval(tambourine), a tar (lute) player and a kamancha (standing violin) player.
