Raindrop Turkish House welcomed Hon. Ed Emmett, Harris County Judge at a morning conversation & breakfast at its new facility, Turquoise Center.
Judge Emmett talked about the preparations and works done by Harris County Emergency Management. He mentioned that Hurricane Ike was a huge disaster and the City recovered very quickly thanks to all who made great effort. He also mentioned that Community Centers like Raindrop play an important role during this kind of catastrophes. Judge Emmett thanked to Raindrop for this opportunity. (October 9, Houston, TX)

Raindrop Turkish House hosted Meeting Our Neighbors dinner where people from neighborhood were present. Ali R Candir, Executive Director of Raindrop, made a presentation about the organization and talked about how important working together with our neighbors. He commented that this center is open for everyone and neighbors can use the facility for cultural, educational and social purposes such as meetings, birthday parties, gatherings, etc.

Institute of Interfaith Dialog in collaboration with Raindrop Turkish House welcomed the Houston FBI department at a Ramadan dinner at Turquoise center. The participants of the dinner from FBI enjoyed the delicious Turkish cuisine along with the representatives of several Turkish-American organizations.
Kemal Oksuz, the executive director of the Institute of Interfaith Dialog, mentioned how important are community outreaching and they are here to serve to the community by organizing dialog and friendship activities.

Hurricane Ike Evacuation Update |
|
Dear Houstonians, Hurricane Ike is moving towards Texas coast with strenthening on warm waters of Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane is expected to landfall along the central to upper Texas coast by as early as late Friday night as a Category 2 or Category 3 hurricane. Models are honing in on a landfall location from the Freeport-Lake Jackson area to Galveston, Texas.
