Candidates in the
Houston mayoral race took part in a debate Monday evening in Turquoise Center. The debate, which was sponsored by FOX 26 and the Raindrop Turkish House,
was televised on FOX 26 at 9 p.m. Monday. The debate featured the following
candidates: City Councilman Peter Brown, Roy Morales, Gene Locke and City Controller
Annise Parker.
Raindrop Turkish House is very proud to serve this event to the

Raindrop Turkish House, in partnership with the FOX 26, will
host a mayoral candidate debate on Monday, Oct. 12. The debate Raindrop House will
air on a tape delay at 9 p.m. Members of the public are invited to submit their
questions for the candidates in the week leading up to the debate. Due to time
restraints, there is no guarantee all questions will be used. For more

Oklahoma City Raindrop Turkish House ladies opened the season with a fascinating Turkish Coffee Night on Friday, October 2nd. Raindrop Turkish House holds Ladies Turkish Coffee Nights for many years, and now they have become a tradition in Oklahoma. More than 60 ladies showed up for the night. The program started with service of Turkish coffee in authentic tiny cups. The theme of this month is "Women in Turkey." Nur Uysal, the Director of Outreach of Raindrop Turkish House, gave a presentation about the status and lives of women in Turkey. She shed light upon the Turkish women's journey through history, their economic and social life. (October 2, 2009, Oklahoma City, OK)
Stephen Kinzer, former Istanbul bureau chief for the New York Times, and author of "Crescent and Star: Turkey Between Two Worlds" spoke this week at University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Red Dirt Report was there for this fascinating lecture on Turkey and its importance in the world.

The Raindrop Turkish House at Jackson hosted Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm E., Hinds County Police Department Heads and Police officers for Ramadan Iftar Dinner. A representative from FBI and local Turkish-American families were also present at the program. Examples of the traditional Turkish cuisine prepared by volunteers of Turkish-American families were the “Turkish Delight” of the evening. (September 18, 2009, Jackson, Missisipi)
Raindrop Turkish House hosted about 1200 people for Bayram Celebration in Turquoise
Center. New Turkish Consulate Akil Oktem visited our center and meet with the
Turkish Community. Raindro Kids Club presented Bayram Celebration Program for
the kids from 12:30 pm. to 4:00 pm.
