We, the Raindrop Turkish House, send our most sincere and deep sympathy to the families and friends of the victims of the tragic
shooting at the Fort Hood military base on November 5, 2009 that has left 13 people dead
and many wounded. Our hearts go to the families of the victims and we hope
that they find the strength and the patience to go through this very difficult
time.
Turkic Fest-09 was on fox 26 on Thursday November 5, 2009. Our President Mehmet Okumus, two students from Azerbaijan and two famous Turkish Artists in Gilding were the guest in TV. Mr. Okumus mentioned that this festival is unique festival with its distinctive features like demonstration of arts, live performances like Turkish folk dances, Turkish music, delicious Turkish food, and many attractions for the kids. He also mentioned that this festival will be a great contribution to cultural richness of our society. Here is the interview:
Turkic Fest-09 was on Local2 KPRC on Sunday
November 1, 2009. Our President Mehmet Okumus and four childreen in
tradional Turkish costumes were the guest in TV. Mr. Okumus answered

Raindrop Turkish House and Istanbul Houston Sister City Association present 3rd Annual Turkic Cultures & Children’s Festival on November 7-8, 2009 from 12:00 pm. to 9:00 pm. Hermann Square just in front of the Houston City Hall (900 Smith St, Houston TX 77002) will be home to this increasingly popular event.
Turkic Cultures & Children’s Festival highlights the rich heritage of many different nations from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan together with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pakistan and Greece are the guest countries this year.
Entrance fee for the festival is $5 only and free for kids under 7.

Raindrop Turkish House in Houston hosted Evan Smith, President
and CEO of Texas Tribune Magazine for a luncheon with the topic "The Governor's
Race and Beyond: Where Texas Politics Is Going". Evan Smith joined the
staff of TEXAS MONTHLY as a senior editor in January 1992. In February 1993, he
was promoted to deputy editor, and in July 2000 he was promoted to editor.In May 2002, he added the title of executive
vice president.In September 2008, he
was promoted to president and editor in chief.
Our president of Turkish House presented a gift from Turkey
and an appreciation certificate to him at the end of the program.
Dallas Turkish House has hosted Consulate General of Turkiye Hon. Akil Oktem. Mr. Oktem has visited all facilities of the Turquoise Center from Bluebonner Learning Center to offices of Raindrop Turkish House . Consulate General asked and valued every detail. After his tour in the facility, he has mentioned importance of the civic organizations and stressed cooperation to ease life of Turkish Americans living in Texas. Raindrop Turkish House Director has given information about the activities and services organization provides not only to Turkish Americans but to residents of DFW Metroplex without discrimination.
